This past weekend Matt and I loaded up the baller and headed down to Bishop, CA to celebrate Sandra and Elliot's wedding. It was a great, albeit short trip.
Driving all night allowed us experience a beautiful sunrise.
Once we arrived in Bishop we went out for a trail run to loosen up. I got to wear shorts, a tee-shirt, and run in the SUN!
Afterward Matt did a bit of fly fishing. He saw lots of fish but didn't catch a thing.
Friday was the big day! Sandra and I went and got beautified in the morning and the group headed out to the Buttermilk's in the afternoon for the ceremony. Afterwards there was a big party at the zoo.
Sunday Matt and I went to the Happy's to do a bit of bouldering before hitting the road. Based on my experience I am pretty sure I need to label myself as "I used to be a climber", it was sad... But it was great to get out and touch the rock. We both plan to spend time in the gym this winter so we can have another go once we are in better shape.

It's all connected
I have the knee of a 70 year old woman. It creaks, pops, doesn't like to bend, and makes me wince when I stand up. Not exactly a situation that is conducive to the running I like do. So, after spending longer than I care to admit ignoring it, I finally did it, I went to a sports therapist. I spent almost two hours being poked, prodded, and tapped. But, when I walked out of there my knee had some range of motion back. What I learned: my pelvis is tilted forward causing my right foot to angle out putting extra pressure on...well, you get the point. It is all connected. What this means for me, more stretching and pain at the hands of the roller.
In other news, you may remember our 'to do' list that was posted when the blog was started. One of the items on that list is Matt's desire to do the Leadville 100 mile mountain bike race for his 40th birthday. We still have a couple of years before that. But, they do have a 50 mile option and Matt plans to do it this year. Nothing like putting it out there to make a person accountable :)

Pushing Boundaries
I seem to have walked away from my camera... Lately I have felt like it is time to reconnect, but I didn't really have any direction. Until now. I have a plan, everything is easier with a plan, right?
Here it is. I am going to do a 52 week project and the focus will be me. Yep, me, how conceited is that?! Here is the reason why, well actually two reasons. First, portrait photography is something that I am not very good at. This will give me a way to practice without complaining that I don't have a subject. Second, it makes me uncomfortable. I don't often have pictures taken of myself. Matt isn't exactly excited to use a camera and I tend to shy away from it in general. So, I figure I can push my comfort limits and make myself the subject.
Without further ado I bring you week one's photo. The standard stick your arm out and take a picture. I figure I don't have anywhere to go but up from here...

Turkey Day!
Started with homemade cinnamon rolls (click for recipe)...
and ended with some deserts and Wii hunting.
In between there was a lot of eating, I was too busy stuffing my face to take any pictures. But, I assure you, it was good!

Weekend Project
Last weekend I decided to tackle a little project that we have been talking about - creating a chalkboard.
First things first, fill the grooves with wood putty, dry, sand, and repeat.
After that it was a couple coats of primer, a few coats of chalkboard paint and voila, a new chalkboard! I must say, I am pleased with the end result.
What better way to test the new chalkboard then to have a turkey drawing contest?
